FLHBA Code of Conduct
Player & Parent Code of Conduct
The Florida Hardballers Code of Conduct outlines the standards of attitude, behavior, and sportsmanship expected from every player and parent in our program. By joining the Florida Hardballers organization, all families agree to uphold these expectations.
Parents are asked to review this document with their player, and a parent’s signature confirms that both the parent and player understand and agree to the Code of Conduct.
SECTION I: PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Personal Responsibility & Ownership
Players take responsibility for their effort, attitude, and development.
Players arrive prepared, on time, and ready to work.
Players follow all uniform and game-readiness requirements outlined in the Parent & Player Guidelines.
2. Hustle & Work Ethic
Hustle is required at all times.
Players embrace challenges as opportunities to improve.
3. Humility & Coachability
Players receive instruction, feedback, and correction with humility.
Players understand coaching is intended to help them grow, not to criticize them personally.
4. Respect for Teammates & Coaches
Players treat all teammates with respect, dignity, and encouragement.
Players do not gossip, complain, or create division.
Players respect coaching decisions during practices and games.
5. Sportsmanship
Players show respect toward opponents, umpires, and the game itself.
Players do not argue or complain about calls.
Players win with humility and lose with grace.
SECTION II: PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Let the Coaches Coach
Parents allow the coaching staff to coach without interference.
Parents do not coach from the stands, sidelines, or dugout areas.
Concerns are addressed privately and respectfully, as outlined in the Communication & Concerns section.
2. No Entitlement
Parents understand that positions, batting order, and playing time are determined by coaches based on effort, attitude, and performance.
Parents encourage their child to embrace competition and earn opportunities.
3. Encourage Independence & Accountability
Parents support their child in being responsible for their equipment, preparation, communication, and mindset.
4. Respect for Players, Officials & Opponents
Parents show respect to umpires, coaches, opposing teams, and all players.
Parents support every player on the roster and refrain from negative talk or gossip.
Parents set the emotional tone—remaining calm, positive, and encouraging.
SECTION III: COMMUNICATION & CONCERNS
Coaches are available to discuss questions or concerns regarding a player’s experience. As emotions often run high during games, the 24-hour rule applies to all concerns in order to promote productive, healthy communication.
Meetings or phone calls may be requested no sooner than 24 hours after the final game of the weekend.
Example: If Sunday’s last game ends at 5:30 p.m., the earliest time to schedule a conversation is Monday at 5:30 p.m.
Questions or concerns sent via text or email must also follow the 24-hour rule.
All communication must be directed privately to the coaching staff—never through group chats or group emails.
SECTION IV: BREACH OF CODE OF CONDUCT OR GUIDELINES
Failure to uphold the standards in this Code of Conduct or the Parent & Player Guidelines may result in consequences, which may include:
Verbal warning
Removal from practices or games
Temporary suspension
Permanent dismissal from the program
Repeated violations or refusal to comply with expectations may lead to removal from the Florida Hardballers program.
